Culinary Usage:

Wash Bytewise organic Urad chilka dal well and soak in water for half an hour. Soaking for longer will take the skin off the dal and is not required.


  • Drain this water off before cooking.
    Cooking in Pressure Cooker:
  • Place the dal, water, salt, and turmeric in the pressure cooker and bring to boil, until you hear a hissing sound. Cook under pressure for 3-4 minutes.
    Allow pressure cooker to cool before opening.
  • Open the lid and check the water.
  • If too thick, add a little boiling water, until it reaches the consistency you desire.
  • Temper it with oil/ Ghee, Cumin seeds & spices
    Serve hot with Rice, Roti, Parathas
