Chana dal is baby chickpeas, also known as Bengal gram split and dehusked. Chana Dal is highly nutritious, It is one of the most popular ingredients in Indian cuisine.

Bytewise organic chana dal is the tiny chickpeas which have been split and polished into a smooth form.
these lentils have a sweet and nutty taste, rich flavor and aroma and get digested easily.
chana dal comes from black chickpeas (Kala Chana). they are split and the outer cover is removed.

chana dal whole is usually rapidly boiled for 10 minutes post this, simmered for a longer period. Dried chickpeas need a long cooking time (1–2 hours) but will easily fall apart when cooked longer. If soaked for 12–24 hours before use, cooking time can be shortened by around 30 minutes. Chickpeas can also be pressure cooked or sous vide cooked at 90 °C (194 °F).


Culinary usage

Apart from being used in soups, salads, curries, dal preparations, savories, sweets, and rice dishes, the legumes are also roasted and powdered into chickpea flour (besan), another ingredient that is widely used in almost every province of India.
